Among the variety of cruises offered, we chose the Sunset Cruise aboard the Madeline.

The captain and crew, Wes, Cat, and Tebow, were entertaining, knowledgeable, and professional. We had a wonderful time and learned a lot about the area.

Cloud cover didn’t take away from the sunset; we were treated to a beautiful, smoldering sky. Along the way, we sailed past the historic homes Clingstone and Hammersmith Farm, as well as Fort Adams.

If you’re all about the sunset, sit in the bow. If you want fun and history, sit in the stern next to the captain. You’ll still get the sunset, plus firsthand information about the area. (Plus they may give you a go at steering).

The sail cost $48 per person. With a 40-person capacity, the boat is a little crowded, but we boarded early and had our pick of seats.
It was a lovely cruise. We were told it sells out almost every evening, so be sure to buy tickets in advance. When I return to Newport, I’ll definitely check out the company’s other cruises.
