New Orleans 2025

There is never a lack of things to see or places to eat in New Orleans.

With lots of hotels at a variety of prices, there is always a place to sleep.
If flying in you will probably come in through MSY or Louis Armstrong Airport. An Uber costs about $40 one way.

If you plan to just visit downtown you probably wont need a car as the city is very walkable.

For safety stay in the well lit areas. Bring good walking shoes as the sidewalks are very uneven, below are a few places to eat, visit or stay.
Voco St. James IHG Hotel 330 Magazine
Beautiful lobby. We were upgraded to a suite with a separate living room and bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable, but you need a step stool to get on it (it’s very high, and there was a step stool provided). The room shared a small courtyard with 2 other rooms, the courtyard was unimpressive.

Tiny little dipping pool, which is about all 1 or 2 people could do was dip in it. Walking distance to several restaurants.
The Original Pierre Masperos 440 Chartres Street
Fun little hole in the wall with delicious food and great service.

Rex House Kitchen & Courtyard
Charming restaurant with inside and outside seating. The stuffed pork chop was delicious.

St. Louis Cathedral
This beautiful church looks like a castle when you approach. Inside is a quiet respite for prayer.
If you want a breathtaking view go to the back of the church at night and see the shadow of Jesus rising up over the cathedral.

Drip Affogato Bar 336 Camp Street
This cute little spot serves delicious drinks and desserts! They also have a few items on their savory menu. Loved the decor.

Creole House
The corn crab chowder was so delicious I wanted to lick the bowl clean.

World War 2 Museum
If you are even remotely interested in history you will love this place. It not only tells the story of WW2, and also includes personal history form regular service men and woman through letters, memorabilia and journals. It is huge so plan a full day. There are lots of friendly volunteers located throughout who are always happy to answer questions and give directions.

St. Pizza
You can order at the outside window then step in to watch them make your pizza. Or you can go beyond the curtain and have an inside dining experience. Either way you’re going to get some delicious pizza.

Hyatt at 601 Loyola
If you’re in town for a Saints game this hotel is a short walk to the stadium. It’s a hike from the lobby to the rooms.
Beautiful pool, impressive gym. The restaurants inside the hotel are not impressive. The rooms are comfortable and quiet.

Bourbon Street
No trip to NOLA is complete without a walk down Bourbon Street, if no other reason then to get a feel of the crazy, wild feeling of it.
